Museo Tazio Nuvolari

The Tazio Nuvolari museum is dedicated to the memory of the great champion, described by Ferdinand Porsche as “the greatest racing driver of the past, present and future.” Between 1920 and 1950, Nuvolari participated in more than 350 motorcycle and car races, achieving no less than 161 wins (91 absolute and 70 class), 2 European champion titles, 5 Italian champion titles and 5 international speed records. The precious museum is in the former church of the Carmelino, along the ‘Percorso del Principe’ linking Palazzo Ducale and Palazzo Te.  It contains the trophies, plaques and cups won by the ‘Flying Mantuan’ as well as a rich collection of gold medals, testimony of a legendary sporting career and life. The champion’s personal effects are of huge impact: helmets, gloves, goggles, driving suits and the inseparable yellow jersey. Visitors can relive the thrills of the car races of the first half of the 20C by watching original films on a large screen and touring an exhibition of precious scale models.
