Built for the Gonzaga family between 1528 and 1561, this villa is an interesting example of the work of Giulio Romano, who was also admired by Palladio.
The piano nobile centres on two symmetrical axes. The central section has a dual-height salon and is extended by a pair of bi-apsed loggias. Features typically associated with the style of Giulio Romano are: the rustic stonework facing, the Doric order and the attic above the entrance.
