Parish church of St Antonio Abate

Villa Pasquali is dominated by the imposing parish church of Sant’Antonio Abate, a splendid surprise for anyone visiting a small village.
The church is famous for its spectacular architecture and Rococo decoration. It was built to a design by the architect Antonio Galli Bibiena for the parish priest Giovan Battista Pedrazzi, with contributions from the leading confraternities in the parish.
The church was erected between 1765 and 1784 but the second tower and rendering on the facade were never completed. The longitudinal interior has a nave, with three side chapels per side communicating with each other. The four minor chapels have a square plan and are topped with small domes with lantern embellished with gilded stuccowork.
