International Red Cross Museum, Castiglione delle Stiviere

The Municipality of Castiglione delle Stiviere created this museum and then gave it to Italian Red Cross; it was inaugurated on 25 June 1959, in the centenary of Dunant's idea.
It is in XVIII century Palazzo Longhi. It hosts several documents and objects about Red Cross birth and development just after San Martino and Solferino battle (on 24 June 1859).

You can see interesting things, such as late XIX century wooden stretchers, ambulances of 1930, camp surgical instruments, and pictures and videos about present Red Cross activity. Still, you may see stamps and the original text of Henry Dunant's book “A Memory of Solferino” (1862).
Often the museum hosts temporary exhibitions from other national Red Cross movements.
