The Gonzagas also held court here and, in 1588, Vincenzo I sent the architect Bernardino Facciotto to rebuild the parish church.
Inside is a 15C polychrome wooden statue of the Enthroned Madonna, four splendid reliquaries donated by Duke Vincenzo I in 1610 and a canvas of the Souls in Purgatory by Giuseppe Bazzani, 1740-1750. Enriched with a permanent collection, the Tesoro di Sant'Erasmo illustrates the evolution of art and liturgy from the Renaissance to baroque times.
