The present parish church was the San Tommaso Benedictine abbey basilica from VIII to XVI century. The basilica had its splendour during XI and XII centuries, when they decked it with precious mosaics and frescoes, some of which were discovered recently under the baroque renovations.
A floor mosaic depicts Sinon – the Greek warrior who pretended to have deserted the Greeks and who told the Trojans to bring the Trojan horse into their city -, likely as a symbol of trickery. The nave frescoes depict prophets and other biblical characters, while the Last Judgement is depicted on the wall opposite the entrance. Still, a Tintoretto school's fresco with the Incredulity of Saint Thomas is behind the central altar, while a Mattia Preti fresco depicts the Delivery of the Keys to St. Peter in the transept. Graziadio Antegnati made the XVI century organ.
The Romanesque bell tower underwent some XVII century renovations, while the façade was built in 1929.
