Descrizione

The Molini della Volta are mentioned in 13C documents as the area’s oldest mill complex. It lies in the bends of the River Mincio, along the route from Goito to Peschiera. In 1956, the river was cleaned and the island of Moradelle emerged, rich in archaeological finds, now in the archaeological museum in Verona. The mill dates from 1132. On the house, you can still see a plaque placed there by Vincenzo Gonzaga in 1592, giving the date of its restoration.

The mill was important, with people coming from as far afield as Castiglione, Medole, Solferino and Cavriana to use it. King Victor Emanuel visited and, in 1917, during WWI it housed the officers of the General Staff. Some grindstones remain, but without a wheel, and a casing for a waterwheel driven by the river.
