Indirizzo
This was built around the mid-15C for Ludovico II Gonzaga, probably to a design by the architect Antonio Manetti Fiaccheri, to provide the city with a single large hospital that could care for the sick, previously scattered around the city in several hospices.
Under Austrian rule, in the 18C, the hospital was converted to a prison (1797) and subsequently to barracks.
