The old Jewish cemetery was on the banks of Lake Inferiore, just past the monastery of the Gradaro. In the early 19C, the French ordered its transfer to a site away from the city, resulting in the opening of the present cemetery on Via Legnago, just past the Rocchetta di Sparafucile.
This new burial place contains more than 2,000 tombs dating from 1865 to the present. A caretaker is responsible for its maintenance and it conserves some tombstones transferred from the Gradaro cemetery and dating from soon after the mid-18C.
