St. Rocco is the patron of plague victims. This baroque oratory was built a few years after the 1576 pestilence, as a part of a major religious complex.
In the apse, you may see a canvas, likely by Correggio's or Parmigianino's school, depicting St. Rocco and some Gonzaga princes; an anonymous XVI century portrait of Our Lady of the Pilar bears sign of artistic relationships with Spain; still, the church hosts since early XVI century an ancient wooden crucifix, whom people is really devout to.
Still, you may appreciate a valuable wooden furniture in the decked choir and marbled balaustrade.
