This is the first mansion designed, in 1835, by Rodolfo Vantini, a leading architect who launched his own style of 19C house in Castiglione that was subsequently often imitated. The piano nobile is unusually on the ground floor, so there is no grand staircase.
On the facade, the entrance is counterbalanced in an attempt to restore classical rigour, partly via the use of rustication.
