Descrizione

This square tower, featuring on each side six Ghibelline merlons and a rounded two-light window, is all that remains of the fortified part of the castle. The tower used to defend the original entrance (a gateway that stood to the right). Previously protected by a moat, the tower is now rendered to imitate bricks. The original brick wall can be seen where the plaster has deteriorated.

In fact, the mediaeval tower was demolished and rebuilt in the 18C. The current tower is the result of transformations that took place in 1872-73. The lower part of the tower incorporates part of the ramparts of the 14C castle of Marmirolo.
