In the early 17C, Prince Scipione decided to move his residence from the castle to the Cittadella, replacing the old distinguished houses with a large mansion fit to host a proper court. The project envisaged two wings linked by loggias, one to the south on the main Cittadella road, called Stradone, and the other to the north in the direction of the castle. Reconstruction commenced around 1622 but advanced so slowly that by the end of the dynasty, in 1703, only the north wing had been built, in the direction of the castle and countryside, plus a stretch linking it to the south side. The south wing maintained its original structure and, in 1786, the architect Molossi planned the restoration of its facade. On the inside, only a few baroque stuccoworks belonging to another majestic entrance have survived. In the 18C and 19C, the mansion, renamed Caserma Bianca, became the military garrison of the Bozzolo stronghold.
