The ecological oasis is part of the Belforte Peat bog, an area reclaimed by the building of a thick network of drainage canals, which today have a high naturalistic value. The reclamation canals and the residual ponds are full of interesting marshland vegetation and aquatic floating plants. The only groups of European White Water-lily found in the park grow in the waters as well as typical floating carpets of Hydrocharismorsus-ranae, both species linked to unpolluted aquatic habitats. The Salix cinerea willow is one of the main trees and shrubs, a tree species which more than any other can grow well in ground covered with water for most of the year.
The wetlands give refuge to a wide variety of bird species: the Mallard, Coot and Moorhen; Migratory birds include the Grey heron; among the birds that can be found the whole year round, the Kingfisher is easy to see, diving and swimming underwater to catch small fish.
The oasis can be reached along a cycle path starting from San Martino dell'Argine.
