Descrizione

The presence of a religious building in Bonafisso dedicated to St Paul is recorded since the 12C. The church was suppressed in 1798 and sold in 1806 for conversion to a private residence.

Today, the building stands compact, rotated away from Via Cavour, with a low late-Gothic bell-tower facing the street. The asymmetrical facade is marked by arched windows on the ground floor and pointed ones on the first floor. At the centre of the front are two pointed two-light windows, set symmetrically to a shrine with an alcove containing a statue of St Paul, dating from the 15C.
The bell-tower, shrine, two two-light windows, hanging apexes and octagonal pilasters seem linked to the original church and to date from the mid 15C.
The first-floor windows are of uncertain date but those on the ground floor are certainly of 19C production.
