Church of St. Maria Nascente

This was built in 1664 and the presbytery subsequently extended between the late 19C and the early years of 20C. The present facade, two tiered with double pilasters, decorations in relief at the bottom and statues in alcoves at the top, dates from 1906.

The fine Baroque interior, with just a nave, eight side chapels and a large presbytery, is adorned with stuccowork and paintings of the period, lavishly framed. See the 17C statue of St Joseph and a painting of the Virgin Mary and six saints called Francis, by Marc'Antonio Ghislina from Casalmaggiore.

The altarpiece of Our Lady Immaculate is adorned with caryatids and the chapel of the Rosario enriched with a portrayal of the Fifteen Mysteries and those of St Charity, the oval of which contains a probable veduta of Gazzuolo. Last but not least is a sumptuous wooden altar of St Anthony of Padua. On the first Sunday in August they celebrate the patron saint, St Charity.
