Built by the renowned Graziadio Antegnati in 1565, this old and famed instrument is in a space with a choir, ‘in cornu epistulae’, to the right of the entrance to the palatine basilica of Santa Barbara. The organ front comprises 15 pipes of the finest tin, divided into three sections.
The organ is enclosed in a refined cabinet with two doors painted by Fermo Ghisoni on both sides (St Barbara and St Peter are visible when the doors are closed and an Annunciation appears when they are opened).
