Monument to Bersaglieri

During XVIII and XIX century, Goito was occupied by French and Austrian armies, and it was a battlefield during Italian independence wars. On 30 May 1848, on Mincio riverbanks, Sardinian and Piedmontese troops beat the Austrians, who were moving to Mantua.
This event started the epic deeds, which led to Italy independence and unification. It can be said that Mincio river flooded all of Italy with the ideals of freedom, independence and progress.
