Casino Pernestano

Situated in the hamlet of Gozzolina, Casino Pernestano is named after the Bohemian Bibiana von Pernstein, wife of Francesco Gonzaga, the brother of St Aloysius Gonzaga.

The complex was built around 1600 for hunting and other pastimes and has the architectural features of a house-fortress. The chapel conserves traces of frescoes and there are more beneath the plaster in other rooms. The Venetian terrazzo floor has been completely removed.
