Track features:
This track runs through farms and Oglio and Po riverbanks, with signs at every crossroads. It can be divided in two parts: a 11 Km. one and a 18 Km. one.
Gruppo Podistico di Buscoldo e Cesole – id est the local footrace club - created this itinerary and is responsible for it.
Start:
The itinerary starts in Cesole di Marcaria, near bar Centrale (via Larga). You can admire late XV century bell tower and parish church.
Follow the directions and, just outside the village, take a narrow road to stradello Lombardo (left side); after 2 Km, turn right on the provincial road, then turn right and left again to strada Pirandello after 100 m: from here you can see a pond, a small bridge and two tall poplars. Go up Oglio left riverbank: you can see Boschina Mortizza flood plain, where herons and egrets live. Proceeding this way, you get to Chiavica di Cesole, then, after 7 km, to Torre d’Oglio pontoon bridge. A little further, there is XV century La Motta farmhouse, where you can rest and buy honey. Go along the riverbank for 1 km and find the divert to the 11 km itinerary: pass the bar on the left and follow the path as far as another bar, then follow the hedge path as far as the provincial crossroads. Keep on towards Cesole for 1 km.
If you want to follow the 18 km itinerary, get where Oglio floods into Po river, and where the river is 1 km wide.
Near Loghino Piemonte, go down left to Scorzarolo small cemetery and XVI century church. Past the village, turn left and cross the provincial road again, then take strada Gambino. At the end of its tarred stretch, turn left on a path to an old mulberry. From here, you walk for 6 km through the country, where you can admire fields, hedges, and scented plants. If you want to, you can have a rest at Galvagnina farm accommodation. Turn right around the henhouse to get to a little wood, where pendulines nest. Passing among some beautiful mulberries, you get to Gambino farm, and where Senga canal floods into Corbolo ditch; on the left you see Canova farm (beware not to enter it). Follow the small bank as far as a gate, cross the provincial road and enter Anselmo farm holding; passing among tall poplars, oaks, maples and hedges, you get to Cavicchia farm, where you can see an ancient vineyard. At the electric company pole, a sign leads right to a narrow white road to the cemetery; after some hundreds meters, turn left to Cesole.
