Poggio Rusco is in the south-eastern corner of Lombardy, only 2 Km away from Modena territory. Being so close to Emilia, its inhabitants are blunt and pragmatic.
Important buildings are the local government building - former Gonzaga's palace designed in mid XV century by architect Luca Fancelli -, and Torre Falconiera o Colombara, - id est the dovecot tower, which is also on Poggio Rusco coat of arms. You should not miss XVIII century SS Nome di Maria parish church, which hosts a precious organ by Montesanti (late XVIII century) renovated by Tonoli in 1861. Still, you might see Tagliaferro oratory - maybe a smaller copy of the parish church -, Santa Maria Ausiliatrice and Santa Maria Maddalena churches in Dragoncello, and finally the monument to Operation Herring paratroopers (1945).
Events:
Poggio Rusco carnival (February) – Summer festival (third June sunday) – Porch festival (last August sunday) – Autumn festival (third September sunday)
