Archaeological city museum, Pegognaga

The Roman finds in this museum come from an archaeological site near the parish church of San Lorenzo, dating from the times of Matilda of Tuscany, and prove the existence of a small rural vicus on the banks of the old course of the River Po. Ceramic, glass, bronze and bone exhibits reconstruct everyday life in the Roman settlement and convey the major importance of trade linked to river traffic. The importance of the River Po is recorded on a famous capital bearing a dedication to ‘Father Po’.
