The main town of Medio Mantovano is Castel Goffredo, which is the most important stocking manufacturer in the world. But tourists will also enjoy food – for example the famous bitter tortelli – and visiting ancient farms and castles in Gazoldo degli Ippoliti, Ceresara, Piubega. Still, you will appreciate landscape and folklore: it is enough to say about Re Gnocco, id est the King of dumplings.


CASTEL GOFFREDO is an industrious manufacturing town today. Still, Giuseppe Acerbi (1773-1846) was born here: his palace is in the main square and every year it hosts an international literary award named after the great traveller and writer. During Carnival eve a float parade with the famous Re Gnocco livens the town up: an enormous amount of dumplings and bitter tortelli – which are flavoured with local herbs - are served in the streets.  
You may visit the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art at Villa degli Ippoliti, GAZOLDO DEGLI IPPOLITI; it hosts also a very interesting Cere della Postumia wax collection. Every year Fiera della Postumia – id est Postumia festival – is one of the most important festivals in Mantua province.
You might pay a visit to Corte Castiglioni in CASATICO di MARCARIA, the farmhouse where Baldassarre Castiglioni – the author of The Book of the Courtier, Il Cortegiano in Italian - was born.
Near SAN MARTINO GUSNAGO, the XV century Palazzo Secco-Pastore towers up the countryside.

Risorsaturistica MAM - Museo d`Arte Moderna e contemporanea dell`Alto Mantovano The Modern and Contemporary Art Museum (M.A.M.) is situated along the route of the Roman Via Postumia, a consular road built in the 2nd century BC, in one of the 16C noble residences owned by the local feudatory Count Ippoliti. It occupies the piano nobile of Villa Ippoliti and the same building and its annexes house the municipal offices (ground floor of the villa) and important local services, including the civic library and social centre for the elderly (side wings). The Regione Lombardy has awarded the museum regional status. In 2011, a platform-lift was installed (co-funded by the Fondazione Cariplo) to make it accessible to people with disabilities. The MAM collections contain 300+ works, starting from the second half of the 19C. The painting collection includes a major exhibition of artists from Mantua as well as famous Italian and foreign artists, with a focus on Lombard Chiarismo. One sector is devoted to Bresciani da Gazoldo, a famous artist born in Gazoldo.
