CASTIGLIONE DELLE STIVIERE is the main town in Alto Mantovano; it is renowned for its religious places related to Saint Aloysius (1568 - 1591) - San Luigi in Italian -, such as San Luigi basilica, that keeps the saint's relics, the Aloysian Museum, the XVII century Collegio delle Vergini with its wrought steel gratings.
Still, the Red Cross Museum is pretty important: actually it was here that Genevan banker Henry Dunant had the idea to found the meritorious organization in 1859. In the museum you can see a large collection of  stretchers, carriages and surgical instruments.  
Not far from there, MEDOLE parish church hosts an altar piece by Titian - where the risen Christ appears to His Mother – and a group of 8 terracotta statues by  Modanino depicting the Deposition.
In GOITO - where bersaglieri, the infantrymen famous for their plumed hat, are celebrated – you may visit Parco delle Bertone (tel. 0376 686 676), a large nature reserve which is contained by Mincio river natural park: you will find many rare trees and a sanctuary for white stork.  
You can easily reach Alto Mantovano villages riding along attractive cycle tracks; the Morainal Hills Tourist Association will surely show you the best itineraries.

Risorsaturistica Historical Aloysian Museum Open to the public since 1969 after initiative of Monsignor Luigi Bosio, this museum is housed in the architectural complex of the Noble Virgins of Jesus, founded by Cinzia, Olimpia and Gridonia Gonzaga, nieces of St Aloysius Gonzaga, in 1608. It contains a fine collection of pictures and objects that belonged to St Aloysius Gonzaga and his relatives.
Risorsaturistica Palazzo Bondoni Pastorio A house-museum in a residence that belonged to the Pastorio family for nearly six centuries. The mansion acquired its present appearance around the mid-18C. The house-museum is a treasure-trove of furnishings, archives and library. Large collections of paintings and original prints of the Palazzo bear testimony to the Pastorio family’s involvement in the local political, religious and cultural life. Ancient everyday objects, including lace, toys and garments, illustrate the family’s life through the centuries and its intrigues in the history of Castiglione delle Stiviere and in the Lombard area.
Risorsaturistica International Red Cross Museum, Castiglione delle Stiviere This international Red Cross museum in Palazzo Longhi conserves written memories, exhibits and documents recording the creation of the Red Cross movement, conceived by Henry Dunant following the battle of San Martino and Solferino on 24 June 1859 and after seeing the countless victims of the bloody combat. It displays aids for the assistance and transport of the wounded such as wooden litters from the second half of the 19C, 1930 motorised ambulances, stretchers, field surgical instruments and medication materials. It also highlights the work of today’s International Red Cross.
