Since 2000, the Association “Strada dei vini e dei sapori mantovani” - id est Route of Mantuan wine and taste -, which is recognized by region Lombardy, has been promoting typical wine and food of Mantua.
Posters along 300 km of road advertise agricultural produce, monuments and nature reserves.
The Chamber of Commerce, the Province of Mantua, some municipalities, some cultural associations and, of course, several winegrowers' cooperatives, restaurants and delicatessens joined “Strada dei vini e dei sapori mantovani”. There you may try a good wine, taste local dishes – such as pumpkin tortelli, risotto alla pilota, pike with sauce, lot of cakes –, or buy great cheeses – such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano -, sausages, pumpkins, mostarda.
In Rivalta, Barcaioli del Mincio – id est Mincio boatmen – will let you visit the heart of Mincio river natural park.
The logo of the association is a sinuous yellow road leading to three grapes: a yellow one, a red one and a violet one. You just have to follow it to discover idyllic spots of Mantua area.
